The Oaks Eltham Wedding Photographer

The Oaks Eltham Wedding Photographer. When Amie first got in touch with me, it was a lovely surprise. I’d photographed her sister’s wedding back in 2019, so it was fantastic to be asked to capture another wedding for the family. It’s always a real privilege when couples come back after seeing my work first-hand.

The day began at Amie’s parents’ house, where there was plenty happening from the moment I arrived. Hair and makeup artists were busy getting the bridesmaids, flower girls and Amie ready, while a couple of very curious family dogs wandered around trying to work out what all the excitement was about! I documented everything as it naturally unfolded, from the finishing touches and the bridal reveal to all the little details including the invitations, perfume, jewellery and flowers, photographed in a beautiful lay-flat style.

I then headed over to Holy Trinity Church in Lamorbey ahead of the ceremony. Arriving early gave me the chance to capture Matt catching up with family and friends before everything began. There was plenty of laughter, lots of conversations and a real sense of excitement as guests arrived.

Amie looked stunning in a classic ivory wedding gown with a beautifully detailed lace bodice, flowing tulle skirt and elegant veil, while Matt looked incredibly smart in a dark three-piece suit, finished with a rich emerald green waistcoat and matching tie that added a splash of colour to the day. Together they looked fantastic and, more importantly, they never stopped smiling.

The ceremony was a wonderful start to the celebrations, followed by one of the biggest confetti walks I’ve photographed in a while! With so many guests lining the pathway, we were able to capture several brilliant confetti photos as Amie and Matt made their way through a shower of petals. With such a large gathering of family and friends celebrating together, there was no shortage of great moments throughout the afternoon.

Everyone then made their way to The Oaks in Eltham for the reception. It’s a beautiful venue with elegant décor and plenty of lovely spaces for a wedding celebration. We took a relaxed walk around the grounds for a few portraits, including some of my favourite photographs from the day featuring Amie, Matt and their dog. They spent the entire day laughing together and enjoying every minute with their family, friends and four-legged companion.

As the evening arrived, the first dance started the a fantastic party. The dance floor quickly filled, the atmosphere was brilliant and everyone was ready to celebrate. All the guests were to be having a great time.

My approach throughout the day was completely documentary, allowing events to unfold naturally while capturing genuine moments as they happened. From the busy morning preparations through to the packed dance floor, it was a pleasure to photograph Amie and Matt’s wedding and another wonderful celebration for a family I’ve had the privilege of photographing more than once.
