Wedding Photographer Woolwich St George Garrison Church London. Photographing Patrick and Lynsey’s wedding at St George’s Garrison Church was such an honour and a privilege. St Georges’s was built as a Garrison Church for the Royal Artillery in Woolwich in 1863. The Garrison Church is a focal point in Woolwich alongside the Royal Artillery Barracks just across the road. The Church was bombed in the summer of 1944 but as a result of a conservation project, has been beautifully restored with a canopy roof. Today, it is used today mainly for community and military events. Patrick and Lynsey’s wedding was the first to take place there in 75 years.
With the guests seated in the open-air memorial garden, the Padre conducted the ceremony in front of the Victoria Cross memorial under the canopy roof at the east end. After the ceremony, we took a very short walk across the road and into the Royal Artillery Barracks for a fantastic reception in the Officers’ Mess.
Once the guests were seated in the dining room, they were offered a fascinating insight into the history of the Officers’ Mess by the Station Quartermaster. The Queen has dined in the Officers’ Mess Dining Room every other year since her coronation. It is a stunning and unique venue and one I felt very privileged to be in. During the evening celebrations, we ventured outside onto the parade square in front of the Main Arch to capture some very unique images for the newlyweds which I absolutely LOVED.
