The Department Store Brixton Wedding Photographer

The Department Store Brixton Wedding Photographer. Molly & James London Wedding at Brixton’s Coolest Department Store

There’s something truly special about being invited back into a family’s story. Nine years ago, I photographed Sophie and Jon’s wedding, so when I received an email from Molly and James—recommended by that very same couple—I was over the moon. Full-circle moments like this are exactly why I love what I do.

Molly’s bridal prep took place at the art’otel Battersea, and what a location! Picture a photographer’s dream: bold murals, floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Battersea Power Station, and gorgeous natural light. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed —drinks flowing, music playing, Molly and her bridesmaids chatting their way through hair and makeup. Hands down one of my favourite getting-ready locations ever.

The venue was The Department Store: a beautifully renovated 1920s gem in the heart of Brixton—the oldest surviving purpose-built department store in the UK. The ceremony took place in the lower-ground floor space, transformed with lush florals and an open layout that was both intimate and spacious.

Molly and James are perfect for each other. They spent the entire day giggling and beaming—those proper loved-up moments that make my documentary heart sing. Molly looked stunning in her classic, timeless white gown, while James was sharp in a navy double-breasted suit.

The couple chose to skip formal portraits to soak up every second with their favorite people (I totally respect that!). Still, I managed to capture beautiful natural moments throughout the day—including a breathtaking golden-hour silhouette against a stunning London sunset from the rooftop terrace.

After the ceremony, everyone headed to the top-floor rooftop for drinks, sunshine, and panoramic city views.

The party kicked off after the speeches, and it was loud, fun, and bursting with joy. Molly made a quick outfit change into a gorgeous sparkly white dress, and their first dance was electric. A brilliant live band kept the dance floor packed until late, with guests of all ages throwing shapes and living their best lives.

This wedding was everything I adore capturing—real, relaxed, and overflowing with love and laughter. Shot in my usual candid, documentary style, just letting the day unfold naturally and capturing moments as they happened.

Molly and James, thank you for trusting me to tell your story. It was an absolute honour to capture your wonderful wedding!
