Friern Manor Wedding Photography
Friern Manor Wedding Photography. I first met Ian and Sarah back in 2018, when I was photographing their friends’ wedding at Cooling Castle. They were both guests that day and I still remember them because got on really well with them. Fast-forward a few years and I received an email from Ian as soon as they’d set their wedding date. It’s always a great feeling when couples you’ve met before get in touch – it means I must be doing something right!!!
Ian and Sarah had decided to get married at Friern Manor. It is a Georgian-style country house that’s been standing for over 200 years. It’s one of those places that is effortlessly elegant.
The day began with Groom Prep in Basildon where Ian was getting ready with his brother and best friend. The atmosphere was calm, easy-going, and full of quiet excitement. Ian looked sharp in his three-piece suit, and one of my favourite moments was when he opened the wedding gift box from Sarah. There’s something brilliant about watching those little pre-ceremony moments unfold naturally – the nerves, the smiles, the anticipation.
Over at Friern Manor Country Hotel, things were a little louder! Sarah was in the bridal suite surrounded by her bridesmaids, a table full of food and gifts, and the unmistakable sound of champagne corks popping. The energy was infectious – laughter everywhere, a touch of chaos, and that feeling that something big was about to happen.
The ceremony took place in the Marriage Pavilion – a beautiful, light-filled space with stylish décor and a relaxed feel. The ceremony itself was short and intimate, but full of warmth. When Ian and Sarah finally said “I do,” their smiles said everything.
Afterwards, we wandered around the grounds for their couple portraits. The gardens looked stunning that day. Ian and Sarah are so easy-going and so natural together, laughing and joking the whole day, which made photographing them an absolute dream.
The rest of the day flowed effortlessly. After the wedding breakfast, guests mingled in the gardens, enjoying drinks and conversation under the late afternoon light. Once the first dance kicked off, the mood turned into a full-blown celebration – a proper party atmosphere with everyone on the dance floor and in high spirits.
As always, I photographed the day in my usual documentary style – candid, relaxed, and unposed. My focus was on capturing the real moments that made Ian and Sarah’s day so special: the laughter, the interactions, and all the tiny details that often go unnoticed.
A perfect couple, a stunning venue, and a day packed with joy – Ian and Sarah’s Friern Manor wedding was everything a wedding should be: fun, heartfelt, and full of life.
